Janan Behzad, Board Member and Director of Programs and Activities at the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, confirmed that the international training course via the electronic portal, organized by the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Environmental Training at the Society in cooperation with the “Bird Life International” organization and the Wildlife Society in Palestine, entitled “Environmental Information Base for Biodiversity”, concluded its work with the graduation of 84 participants from inside and outside the State of Kuwait.
Behzad explained that international experts from BirdLife International, BirdLife International, and the Palestinian Society provided training sessions on the bird database for those interested and specialized in birds during the course and its practical workshop. She noted that “the course was organized virtually due to the Arab and international participation in the course through the team of expert lecturers, representatives of Gulf and Arab universities and environmental organizations, and teams and groups concerned with birds, whether general environmental activity or single-activity.”.
She stated that the participating entities included government institutions and bodies related to the environment, volunteer teams, environmental research centers, civil organizations, and groups of individuals, as well as Kuwaiti and Arab institutes and universities. She added that the course experts worked to achieve the training objectives on the concepts of environmental surveying of biodiversity and plant life and its relationship to global standards, in addition to learning about access and registering an account on the electronic portal “observation.org” and analyzing the scientific material on biodiversity and plant life, as well as learning about the concepts of important bird areas according to the standards of BirdLife International and the World Union for the Protection of Birds.
Behzad announced that the course is a training session from a series of international events and activities with the strategic partners of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, including the International Union for Conservation of Nature and BirdLife International, as well as the Wildlife Society in Palestine, after signing a cooperation protocol with it recently. The “Environmental Information Base for Biodiversity” course represents the first of the joint work with it.
