The Kuwait Environment Protection Society announced that, “As part of its launch of the week of celebrations for the International Day for Biological Diversity, which it launched by setting the date of its regular general assembly meeting on the same day as the global celebrations of biodiversity, May 22, the Society has adopted a series of programmatic activities in conjunction with the global celebrations of biodiversity,” announcing that during the week the Society will present several awareness programs to introduce these national efforts.
She explained that “its program of activities for the International Day for Biological Diversity includes many of its activities and themes, lectures, field visits and field trips about the country’s environmental and natural habitats and its biodiversity for its various teams and specialized committees. There are many educational and awareness sessions presented about nature reserves, coral reefs, birds, plants and tidal areas, as well as the effects of climate change on nature and living organisms.”.
She explained that “the society’s program record is full and rich with programs, activities and events concerned with introducing biodiversity in the State of Kuwait, its elements, components and environmental and natural habitats, especially its annual television series (Documentary Series to Document Wildlife in the State of Kuwait), which it launched 9 years ago and during which it presented programs Every Day a Bird in two parts, Every Day a Plant in two parts, Every Day a Wildlife in two parts, Every Day a Fish in two parts, and Every Day a Picnic in two parts. The series included 240 television episodes aimed at raising awareness, introducing and advocating for the protection and preservation of biodiversity in the State of Kuwait.”.
She noted that “the production of the documentary series to document wildlife in the State of Kuwait takes place in all weather conditions and climates, including rain, dust storms, and high humidity. She pointed out that the program production of the series includes field surveys over 9 years, covering at least 18,000 kilometers in the State of Kuwait, including the terrestrial environment, beaches, and nine islands, to document wildlife of various living organisms such as birds, plants, vertebrates, invertebrates, fish, tidal creatures, mammals, reptiles, and others, to demonstrate the great biodiversity. Although the environment in the State of Kuwait is a desert environment with a harsh climate, this environment overlooking the sea is rich in biodiversity that deserves to be documented and its existence, importance, and connection to our lives highlighted.”.
She added, “This documentation was carried out by a team of Kuwaiti personnel over the years throughout the country, on land and sea, through the Wildlife Protection Committee, the Bird Monitoring and Protection Team, the Diving Team, and the Documentation and Photography Team, who had wonderful documentary outputs that the Environmental Media and Documentation Center in the Society crystallized and produced a series of documentary programs to document wildlife in the State of Kuwait.”.
