The Kuwait Environment Protection Society affirmed that “the meeting of Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, Director of the Environment Department at the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Environment, with members of its environmental engineers team reinforces the Arab League’s keenness to support Arab civil society organizations, enrich their capabilities, and listen to their voice more deeply and comprehensively, especially their young members who are entrusted with carrying the banner of environmental civil society work, which undoubtedly supports and reinforces the governmental approach and work in this regard.”.
This came as part of the Environment Society’s participation in the “Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP28“, in the blue zone designated for official delegations, governments and stakeholders, as it is the only Kuwaiti civil organization that has observer status in the ”United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC”.
The meeting of the Director of the Environment Department at the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Environment, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, with a youth delegation from the society consisting of environmental engineer Youssef Abdul-Redha Al-Ramzi, the official spokesperson and founding member of the Environmental Engineers Team, and engineer Ahmed Al-Hazim, a member of the society, witnessed a rich discussion about the roles assigned to young people in voluntary environmental work in the Arab world and the most attractive volunteer fields for future generations, as well as the difficulties and obstacles they face in this regard, with an emphasis on framing this within the framework of the society’s interests in support of communication between leaders and the younger generation.
Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah discussed with Al-Ramzi and Al-Hazim “ways to advance their continued community contributions while enhancing their capabilities and scientifically qualifying them in the field of environmental engineering and environmental sciences, which falls within the interests of students and researchers as modern and contemporary sciences and specializations that are popular among high school graduates in large numbers and clearly, given that the environment is a common denominator and a key element intertwined with all areas and plans of sustainable development.”.
