Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, stated that the Spring Environmental Field Training Program included a series of field visits organized in cooperation with various entities to familiarize the Friends of the Environment team with environmental issues and projects through field activities. He noted that the Society organized a field visit to the Al-Abdaliyah Reserve, which belongs to the Kuwait Oil Company.
He explained that the field visit to the Al-Abdaliyah Reserve, which included 11 members of the Society's Friends of the Environment team, supervised by the Society's Public Relations Officer, Engineer Maali Al-Aqab, and member Anwar Al-Muharib, comes as a continuation of a program of educational scientific trips that includes field training sessions and workshops. The Society began this program with a trip to the Al-Jahra Reserve. He also commended their roles in raising awareness, providing guidance, organizing the trip, arranging logistics, and supervising the journey.
M. Al-Muhanna stressed that the visit of the Friends of the Environment team to the Al-Abdaliyah Reserve enhances the approach of environmental awareness and education towards Kuwait’s native plants and reinforces in that age group the concepts of protecting them and the imperative of preserving them, noting that the process of planting seedlings of the Arfaj plant, which is the national plant of the State of Kuwait, was accompanied by an introductory lecture on its importance, specifications and medical and societal uses, as well as introducing the types, uses and benefits of Kuwaiti native plants.
He praised the cooperation and efforts of the Kuwait Oil Company and the officials of the Al-Abdaliyah Reserve for their participation in facilitating the tasks of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society in raising awareness and educating the young members of its team, and for bringing out this wonderful experience in this way, which achieved its awareness and training goals, and the team enjoyed its experience.”.
He stressed that “the youth stage is included in the society’s interests through the launch of specialized programs and projects through the program plan of its Friends of the Environment team, which includes ages 8-18 years, based on its social responsibility towards consolidating and promoting voluntary environmental work and spreading correct environmental knowledge among the groups of society, especially youth.”.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna explained that “the Friends of the Environment team at the society consists of young Kuwaiti men and women, under the age of eighteen, from school students. The society is keen to ensure the comprehensiveness of their training through their participation in field and field work and in environmental conferences and exhibitions locally and internationally. The society instills in them the value of environmental citizenship, and they are trained and prepared to engage in voluntary environmental work. They are the nucleus of national cadres and elites in the society’s specialized teams and committees, and their field and field training plan depends on assigning them many organizational and supervisory roles.”.
