Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wuhaib, emphasized “the importance of the role of civil society organizations in strengthening trust in government institutions, given that their activities and programs support the efforts of these institutions, as partners whose volunteer work intersects with the plans of various government entities.” This came during his meeting at his office with Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection. During the meeting, Dr. Al-Aqab explained that “strengthening cooperation and environmental partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the Society in numerous events and programs is crucial, as the Ministry is a strategic national partner of the Society in environmental protection projects and programs, within the framework of activating the joint cooperation protocol between the Ministry and the Society.” She noted that “the meeting with Major General Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Wahib is consistent with the frameworks of environmental partnership and cooperation, supporting the association’s awareness activities, and discussing logistical support for field work.” She added that “after congratulating His Excellency on gaining the confidence of the political leadership to assume the duties of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, she addressed the most prominent points of joint cooperation, based on the cooperation agreement between the Ministry and the association, which was signed in 2018. These include strengthening the partnership and activating cooperation between the two in environmental projects, in addition to the field support from the Ministry in providing security approvals and facilities for the association’s team to film wildlife through the series of documentary programs on wildlife in Kuwait, which were adopted by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education as a scientific resource that enhances and accompanies the school curricula, in addition to its adoption by the League of Arab States as a reliable Kuwaiti mechanism and approach for raising awareness in environmental education and media.” She noted that she reviewed the joint program between them for monitoring wildlife in border areas, praising His Excellency's wise directives to the relevant departments and sectors to continue the distinguished cooperation with the Society. She commended their commendable efforts in advancing this cooperation, which benefits Kuwait through participation in environmental and awareness-raising projects. She explained that the Ministry's departments and sectors, represented by the Security Decisions Follow-up Committee, the Traffic and Operations Sector, the Public Security Sector, the Land Borders Sector, the Public Relations and Security Media Department, and the Environmental Police, each within its security jurisdiction, are presenting a positive image that reflects their national spirit through their significant logistical support. This support includes granting security approvals for entry and photography permits within the border areas, which are rich in wildlife, as well as providing protection and escort for the team, in addition to various forms of cooperation and logistical support.
