Samira Al-Khalifa, head of the photography team and bird monitor at the society, said, \u201cIn conjunction with the filming of the \u201dEvery Day a Picnic 2\u201c program, which is part of the sixth season of the society\u2019s monitoring and documentation of wildlife in the State of Kuwait, the team, which consists of specialized volunteer staff, continued to document wildlife in the border areas of the State of Kuwait.\u201d She emphasized that monitoring provides important information and data about birds, living creatures, and components of wildlife in the areas planned for documentation by the team. She explained that \u201cin continuation of the monitoring of the eagle owl\u2019s nest, which was previously monitored with specialized thermal cameras, one egg was added to it, bringing the total this week to 4 eggs.\u201d She clarified that the monitoring and follow-up process is ongoing around the clock, recording all details, and that monitoring will continue until the eggs hatch and the development of the chicks is monitored.<\/p>\n
For his part, the head of the Environmental Documentation and Media Center, Dr. Abdul-Redha Al-Ramzi, said that the thermal night cameras had detected an important aspect of the eagle owl\u2019s living behavior, adding: \u201cThe absence of the female owl from the nest was not for the purpose of hunting. What the cameras captured on February 5 at 2:46 am is clear documentation of the male owl\u2019s interest in feeding the female while she was caring for the eggs. In the video, the male owl appears to be hunting a small mouse and bringing it to the nest and offering it to the female, and the temperature is very low, barely exceeding 9 degrees Celsius.\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Ramzi praised the support of the Ministry of Interior and the efforts of the staff of the Al-Shaqaya Center and the cooperation in the Al-Abraq sector for their efforts in supporting the work team, protecting them and enabling them to perform their work, noting that the distinguished program \u201cDocumenting Wildlife in the Border Areas of the State of Kuwait\u201d is a joint cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, and is considered the first of its kind to establish a database of biodiversity in those areas, stressing that the program benefits from the experiences of the border security personnel in extracting information and statistics from their valuable observations in some locations and their monitoring of some living creatures that they observe from time to time, as their eyes are the best observer of that nature due to the nature of their work and its location in remote areas.<\/p>\n
