Behzad: An introduction to the national communication and the annual report\u2026<\/p>\n

The Secretary-General of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, Jenan Behzad, revealed that the Society\u2019s programs and activities will include more awareness-raising topics related to the issue of climate change, especially with the increasing weather fluctuations that the State of Kuwait is currently experiencing, including heavy rains and a significant drop in temperatures.<\/p>\n

Association Programs
\nBehzad noted that the "Green Schools" programs, beach safaris, specialized conferences, and scientific forums organized or participated in by the association, both locally and internationally, always include the theme of "climate change" and its effects on many aspects.<\/p>\n

Sectors and fields are among the association\u2019s primary concerns, through the activities of its teams and specialized committees throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Spreading awareness
\nShe explained that the Environment Society, being concerned with raising awareness of the effects of climate change and promoting the National Communication and Annual Report of the State of Kuwait, gives this issue a prominent place in its program plans. She emphasized that the Society's growing awareness efforts on climate change fall within its activities, which are consistent with its chairmanship of the Gulf Network of Environmental NGOs and its role as the National Coordinator of the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) in Kuwait, in addition to its membership in several committees.<\/p>\n

Attention should be paid to developing high-level strategic plans for changes in energy systems and changes in transportation methods, as these have a significant impact on greenhouse gas production, according to the first National Communication Report of the State of Kuwait.<\/p>\n

Government effort
\nJanan Behzad emphasized that "this requires urgent governmental effort and implementation. The key is always in the application itself, which necessitates addressing individual behavior. Lifestyle changes can make a significant difference in rationalizing energy consumption, ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources, and understanding the true value of goods and services." She added, "This solution alone will not be sufficient. The world still urgently needs to focus on compensating nature for its losses and capturing carbon by increasing green spaces."<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the atmospheric temperature is expected to rise by 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to what it was in the middle of the last century, and this is projected to occur by 2050, which portends a range of serious negative impacts on most countries of the world.\u00bb He added, \u00abTherefore, the Paris Climate Agreement included a set of binding decisions requiring countries worldwide to contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
