Janan Behzad, Secretary General of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, stated that the Environment Public Authority and the Society, in cooperation with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), launched a scientific and educational publication to celebrate World Wildlife Day. The Society also partnered with the Biodiversity Department of the Environment Public Authority to raise awareness for the "Let Them Cross" campaign, which aims to protect birds from the dangers they face. To this end, a special booklet was printed for this campaign, based on previous material prepared by Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Awfi, a Saudi consultant and expert in biodiversity studies and conservation, for the IFAW's educational outreach initiative. This material was subsequently updated by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society.<\/p>\n

\nBehzad added that the Environment Public Authority and the Kuwait Environment Protection Society adopted the publication (Let Her Fly in Peace) about birds in Lebanon by Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Awfi, and the Kuwaiti version was published under the title (Let Her Cross). Dr.<\/p>\n

Al-Awfi, along with the Secretary-General of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, Jenan Behzad, added to and edited the publication to reflect the status of birds in Kuwait. Educational curriculum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She explained that the publication \u00abLet It Pass\u00bb falls within the framework of the simplified educational curriculum through sets of theoretical materials accompanied by pictures of birds from Kuwaiti environments, habitats and nature reserves, stressing that the publication was evaluated and audited by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the World Council for BirdLife, noting that the material was updated by Jenan Behzad, with artistic and production vision by Dr. Abdulhadi Al-Awfi, and the publication relied in its sources on the field guide to the birds of Kuwait by the Environment Society, as well as the world expert in biodiversity, Dr. Muhammad bin Yislam Shabraq, and the photography of the Society member, Abdulaziz Al-Yousef.<\/p>\n

Anatomical explanation
\nThe Secretary-General of the Environment Society explained that the publication includes educational articles and lessons about birds, including "What Makes Birds Unique Creatures," which includes an anatomical explanation of their bodies, as well as "How Do Birds Fly?" which explains their methods of flight, including gliding and flapping, in addition to the miracle of migration, its meaning, why birds migrate, how they prepare for it, when it occurs, their routes, how they choose them, their timing, and how they navigate to those routes.<\/p>\n

Bird Paradise
\nJanan Behzad stated that the publication is rich with a section on "Kuwait, a Paradise for Birds," highlighting its 416 bird species. She noted that the publication was based on several scientific sources, including the Field Guide to the Birds of Kuwait, published by the association in 2012. She mentioned that the most prominent migration seasons are the annual autumn and spring migrations, due to Kuwait's geographical location as a major crossing point and a crucial gateway for migratory birds. She added, "Birds arrive in the spring, from February to the beginning of May each year, traveling from south to north. Among the most prominent birds are eagles, songbirds, and shrikes. In the autumn, birds that pass through Kuwait and are most frequently observed are..."<\/p>\n

During the autumn migration from mid-August to January of each year, the most prominent birds include (flamingos), (eagles), (vultures), (hawks), and some types of (ducks).<\/p>\n

Bird tasks
\nThe booklet highlighted the vital role of birds in Kuwait's natural environment, presented the threats facing birds in Kuwait, and included relevant articles from the Environmental Protection Law concerning biodiversity. It also outlined 18 ways to help birds. Behzad noted that the publication covered the bird groups found in Kuwait, providing photographs for each group: wading birds, waterfowl, resident birds, nesting birds, migratory birds, and woodland birds. A visual guide was also included for easy identification.<\/p>\n
