Nawaf Al-Muwail, a member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, announced the launch of the second phase of the "Beach Safari" program for the current academic year. The program, launched by the Society approximately two years ago, consists of a series of events focused on documenting and preserving the wildlife and natural environment of Kuwait's beaches. These activities involve specialists and volunteers in the environmental field, and include a range of seminars, lectures, and practical workshops. Al-Muwail explained that "the program, with its diverse activities, aims to achieve several objectives, including assessing the condition of the beaches, raising awareness about the importance of beaches and coastlines, identifying the types of rocks and sand found along the coast, monitoring the condition of marine life and plants in the coastal areas, identifying beach types and the risks they face, raising awareness about the importance of beaches and their monitoring, and developing strategic plans for coastal management and related scientific reports.".<\/p>\n

Lecture Theme
\nHe emphasized that the main focus of the Beach Safari program's lectures is plastic waste and its effects on living organisms in the coastal and marine environment in general, including its biodiversity and wildlife such as fish and seabirds. He noted that the participating experts are committed to delivering the scientific and practical sessions and program components in environmentally sensitive locations and natural habitats along the coasts and beaches, praising the participation of<\/p>\n

Rasameel Investment Company has joined the Society's "Beach Safari" program through a one-year environmental partnership, stemming from its corporate social responsibility program and its awareness of its social and environmental role. A member of the Society's Board of Directors added that "one of the most prominent facts the program establishes is how plastic pollution is distributed globally throughout the oceans due to its buoyancy and durability. The absorption of toxic substances by plastics during their journey through the environment leads to plastic particles being transported through photolysis and other weathering processes. The plastic fragments and spreads throughout the ocean, and the primary sources of plastic pollution are enclosed bays, coastal seas, and densely populated water bodies." He further noted that "according to a study published by Marcus Eriksson in 2014, plastic pollution in the world's oceans exceeds 5 trillion pieces of plastic weighing more than<\/p>\n
