The Kuwait Environment Protection Society announced that its specialized technical team has completed preparing amendments to the articles of the Environmental Protection Law that were the subject of observations by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Justice, particularly those articles facing implementation difficulties. The team was headed by Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Society, and included retired Brigadier General Hussein Al-Ajmi, former Director of the Environmental Police and founder and head of the Environmental Lawyers Center at the Kuwaiti Lawyers Association, and environmental engineer Yousef Abdul-Redha Al-Ramzi, the Society's official spokesperson and Vice President of its Environmental Engineers Team. Al-Aqab stated that \u201cthe Society is closely linked to Kuwaiti Environmental Protection Law No. (42) of 2014, as amended by Law No. (99) of 2015, which represents a qualitative leap in the country\u2019s environmental legislation. The Environment Public Authority oversees its implementation, as the Society, through its staff and experts, participated in drafting and formulating many of its articles within its various chapters and sections.\u201d She noted that \u201cthe law comprises nine chapters encompassing 181 articles covering various environmental fields (development, air, water, soil, and biodiversity).\u201c She further highlighted \u201dthe Society\u2019s contributions to developing and formulating articles that align with the country\u2019s environmental data and needs, aiming to achieve the highest standards of environmental management in the country, and its technical contributions to more than 701 TP3T amendments to the various articles and clauses contained within the law.\u201c She also pointed to \u201dthe Society\u2019s role regarding the law, playing a vital role as a strategic partner of the Environment Public Authority through community awareness campaigns and educational workshops to familiarize the public with the provisions of the Environmental Protection Law and its executive regulations, as well as monitoring.\u201c The association also follows up by receiving citizens' complaints and contributing to monitoring environmental violations and referring them to the relevant judicial and administrative authorities. It emphasized that it has previously launched numerous meetings, workshops, lectures, and specialized campaigns aimed at introducing the law's provisions to the community in a manner that aligns with the cultures, behaviors, and perspectives of all segments of society. This is achieved by introducing the law as the "Green Law," presented by a select group of the association's experts and researchers in the form of open workshops and practical, field-based applications that reinforce the details and outcomes of the articles and clauses included in the law.
