Dr. Al-Aqab, President of the Association, said: \u201cTo open new horizons in translating the patterns of this cooperation at its peak, the arrangements of the (Wildlife Documentation Program in the Border Areas of the State of Kuwait) contributed to identifying the location of the eagle owl\u2019s nest in the Al-Abraq sector a week ago, where the team of the (Every Day a Picnic 2) program, on the twenty-fifth of January, during the first monitoring process, spotted only one egg in a nest in the heart of the rocks.\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Aqab added: \u201cDuring last weekend, on Friday, January 31st, during the second monitoring operation, the Environmental Documentation and Media Center at the Society documented 3 eggs of the Eurasian eagle-owl, which is no less than 40 cm long with wingspans of approximately one meter, which cannot be missed as it flies over the crevice between the two banks.\u201d She confirmed that two adult owls were spotted at the site inside one of the crevices of the crevices, looming on the horizon, around the nest, noting that this systematic monitoring provides important information about wildlife, \u201cas the owl does not lay its eggs all at once in its nest, as the owl laid 3 eggs over a period of ten days.\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Ramzi praised the support of the Ministry of Interior and the efforts of the staff of the Al-Shaqaya Center and the cooperation in the Al-Abraq sector for their efforts in supporting the work team, protecting them and enabling them to perform their work, noting that the distinguished program \u201cDocumenting Wildlife in the Border Areas of the State of Kuwait\u201d is a joint cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, and is considered the first of its kind to establish a database of biodiversity in those areas, stressing that the program benefits from the experiences of the border security personnel in extracting information and statistics from their valuable observations in some locations and their monitoring of some living creatures that they observe from time to time, as their eyes are the best observer of that nature due to the nature of their work and its location in remote areas.<\/p>\n
She stated that the \u201cDocumenting Wildlife in the Border Areas of the State of Kuwait\u201d program, in addition to highlighting wildlife in those areas, also highlights the role of the Ministry of Interior in protecting the Kuwaiti environment, especially the members of the Border Security Sector, praising the many facilities provided by the Ministry of Interior to the Society\u2019s program team, most notably the approval to issue special permits to enter the border areas and facilitate the tasks of the work team.<\/p>\n
Al-Aqab extended special thanks to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Essam Al-Nahham, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Land Border Security, Major General Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah, for their support of the national cadres of volunteers in the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection. Thanks were also extended to the members of the Cooperation and Al-Shaqaya border centers.<\/p>\n
