Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, revealed that the team working on the \u201cEvery Day a Picnic 2\u201d program of the Society moved to document wildlife and natural environments in \u201cFaydhat Al-Sidr\u201d in the northern Al-Ratqa sector, stressing that \u201cthe team monitored and documented 63 Sidr trees in Faydhat Al-Sidr in the border Al-Ratqa sector, including 42 large and 21 small Sidr trees, calling for the protection of that Faydhat because it contains many and varied types of biodiversity, whether in terms of plants or animals, as well as the many types of wild birds.\u201d.<\/p>\n
Dr. Al-Aqab pointed to \u201cthe efforts of the Ministry of Interior through the members of the Border Security in maintaining and protecting the Sidr tree and irrigating it in the summer and taking care of it as it contains wild Sidr trees naturally and organically,\u201d noting \u201cthe efforts of the Ministry of Interior also in propagating wild plants from the same environment, which confirms the excellence of the Border Security men in their environmental responsibility towards the components and natural habitats of the country.\u201d.<\/p>\n
She explained that \u201cthe Sidr Valley at Al-Sakhibari in the northern Al-Ratqa sector witnessed a large increase in the number of Sidr trees planted by members of the land border security forces. After it had only one Sidr tree, it now includes about 42 large Sidr trees, which they were able to protect in the summer by watering them. The Sidr saplings spread and their number increased to 21 small Sidr trees, less than one meter in length.\u201c She pointed out that \u201dmore than 237 bird nests were observed among the Sidr trees in the valley, and 104 caves and burrows of wild animals and reptiles were counted, most of them for jerboas.\u201c.<\/p>\n
She expressed the strengthening of cooperation and environmental partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the Society, and the promotion of efforts to document wildlife and produce the \u201cEvery Day a Picnic 2\u201d program, which deals with the environments and picturesque nature in all of Kuwait\u2019s border regions, within the framework of activating the cooperation protocol between the Ministry and the Society. She stated that the \u201cEvery Day a Picnic 2\u201d program comes as a continuation of the television episodes to monitor and document wildlife in Kuwait for this season and will be shown daily on television screens. Each episode will last from 7 to 10 minutes, including a scientific presentation rich in information about the elements and components of wildlife in the site and region of the episode. Each episode includes a visual presentation of its natural habitats and its relationship to Kuwaiti heritage, as well as a narrative and historical description of those areas and their importance in Kuwaiti heritage.<\/p>\n
She added that the external field monitoring and documentation operations for the sixth season of her television series of episodes to monitor and document wildlife in the State of Kuwait, which were launched during the past few weeks, reflect the importance of the environmental partnership initiative included in the cooperation protocol between the society and the Ministry of Interior, which aims to develop capabilities, develop and enhance environmental volunteer work skills and instill concepts of environmental citizenship.<\/p>\n
