Engineer Yousef Abdulredha Al-Ramzi, the official spokesperson and Vice President of the Environmental Engineers Team at the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, held a technical meeting with Engineer Roua Al-Muhaysin, Membership and Coordination Assistant at the West Asia Office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), in Amman, Jordan. The meeting aimed to coordinate and enhance the Society's membership and its leadership of the IUCN National Committee in Kuwait, as well as to update the Committee's bylaws and internal regulations and to learn about the services offered by the Union. During the meeting, which resembled a coordination and informational workshop, Engineer Al-Ramzi presented the Committee's outputs and achievements at the national level in Kuwait. This included highlighting key activities and efforts related to the IUCN's areas of focus, with presentations from Kuwaiti entities on the Committee showcasing their accomplishments during the two years the Kuwait Environment Protection Society held the chairmanship. Engineer Al-Ramzi also reviewed the most important proposals discussed at the meeting, including the importance of linking global goals to local needs in member states and unifying the efforts of members from various sectors. Activating the regional committee is considered a strategic step to strengthen cooperation among countries, exchange expertise, build capacity, and unify positions to address shared environmental challenges. He added that regarding the tasks of the national committees, there are several proposals submitted by the head of the National Committee of the Union in Kuwait, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, to the President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Dr. Razan Mubarak, and to Dr. Hani Al-Shaer, the Regional Director of the Union for West Asia, including: establishing a basic system for the national committees, and this task falls on the head of each committee, designing an internal regulation that organizes work within the committee, and attracting new groups and members to the national committees.
