Janan Behzad, Secretary General and Director of Programs and Activities at the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, considered that “the launch of the cultural and educational season activities of its annual program “Green Schools” for the academic year 2025-2026, which it organizes for the sixteenth consecutive year, targets students and teachers of public and private schools at various educational levels, within the framework of the Society’s continuous efforts to consolidate the values of environmental citizenship and promote a sustainable culture in educational institutions.”.
Behzad announced that “this year’s Green Schools program comes in an integrated format, combining real-world events and online workshops via interactive communication platforms, including a wide range of lectures, activities and practical programs in multiple fields, including preserving biodiversity, renewable energy, rationalizing water consumption, climate change, as well as environmental protection law, sustainable resource management, in addition to the future of environmental jobs, environmental clubs, along with new topics that keep pace with national and global developments in environmental issues.”.
She emphasized that “the program represents an integrated educational and awareness platform aimed at supporting male and female teachers as active elements in spreading environmental culture, and enabling male and female students to practice sound environmental behavior within schools and the community,” explaining that “this year’s program has been enhanced with interactive content and a practical guide that helps schools adopt best environmental practices,” noting that “the launch of the new season of the Green Schools Program comes as a continuation of a journey of successes during which, in previous years, it was able to reach thousands of male and female students and male and female teachers, and achieve a tangible impact in spreading a sustainable environmental culture within the school community in Kuwait.”.
She pointed out that “schools are a key partner in building a generation aware of environmental issues and sustainable development, and we in the association continue to develop this program in line with the state’s aspirations and environmental goals, and translate the role of civil society in supporting the Ministry of Education and academic institutions,” calling on “school administrations to register electronically to benefit from the program’s activities through the association’s website to enhance the role of the school as a microcosm that reflects correct environmental practices, and to develop a spirit of initiative and environmental volunteering among students and teachers and integrate sustainability concepts into education and school practice.”.
Janan Behzad noted that “this year the association has dedicated a new focus to the role of women in climate change, which includes workshops aimed at female teachers and students with the aim of enhancing their environmental awareness and developing skills in designing sustainable school initiatives, reflecting the leading role of women in facing environmental challenges and spreading sustainable behaviors in the school community.”.
