The Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection announced “the use and employment of distance learning programs to provide training courses and specialized educational programs for male and female teachers participating in its educational awareness program (Green Schools) and environmental club teams registered in the program.”.
Nawaf Al-Muwail, a member of the association and coordinator of distance education courses for teachers of the Green Schools Program, revealed that “all the program’s trainers are highly qualified in training and based on the latest developments after the Corona pandemic, and given that the current reliance is on electronic training and the need for trainers to develop skills in using the program and electronic applications to create modern and appropriate teaching methods for distance education, an online electronic program has been designed to train them.”.
Al-Muwail explained, “In light of the changes that have occurred in the world and the urgent need to develop work programs according to the new circumstances and in a manner that suits the coming period, the association has encouraged trainers to utilize electronic training methods and prepare specialized online programs to serve as a database for learners. The team seeks to compensate for the missed programs through the smart education platform in the first e-learning program.” He emphasized that “this program was launched by training the trainers of the (Green Schools) program and the association’s volunteers from the education platform at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University in Dubai, which provided electronic training sessions in leading smart education programs to ensure the management and operation of online classrooms with the aim of ensuring the enhancement of learners’ knowledge, skills and behaviors.”.
He added that after completing the e-training program at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, “the team underwent training in the course “How to Become a Remote Teacher in 24 Hours” and the course on designing e-lessons to enhance the efficiency of national cadres and provide creative programs by adapting technology in education.” He pointed out that “the list of applications, platforms, and educational resources available on the Internet and open sources aims to help parents, teachers, and schools facilitate student learning and interaction during school closure periods. All electronic solutions are available to everyone and are free, but the path to them requires a little knowledge and a lot of patience, as the availability of information does not mean that all of it is correct and acceptable. Hence, the association’s role came in developing distance learning resources for multiple groups.”.
Nawaf Al-Muwail stated, “Using asynchronous learning methods enables learners to attend online lessons and access and operate the content according to their own schedules. This also helps overcome feelings of isolation and encourages direct interaction.” He added, “Through the e-learning program, we have identified a strategy to teach students the knowledge and skills they need, and we have designed simplified training courses for teachers on how to improve learning outcomes. These courses will be available for registration soon, and we hope to register 100 teachers to benefit from the topics of “biodiversity, climate change, scientific research, and nature reserves” for the first phase. After that, the phase will be evaluated, and other new topics will be presented.”.
The coordinator of the online education program for trainers of the Green Schools Program at the Environment Association concluded, “The Corona pandemic is not limited to the deterioration of the complex relationships between social, economic and environmental systems, but the challenges facing the world are great and have cast their shadow on the education sector and left behind 290 million children out of schools around the world. Closing the doors of schools and universities in the face of the virus to limit the chances of its spread was in response to the recommendations of specialists to contain the spread of the Corona pandemic.”.
