Nawaf Al-Muwail, a member of the second delegation of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection participating in the State of Kuwait’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, stressed the Society’s keenness to participate in the “Urban and Rural Development” week activities to announce and raise awareness of the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflicts, “November 6”.
Al-Muwail revealed the delegation’s program plan, which includes a screening of the film “Why November 6,” a lecture, a visual presentation, a workshop on “An Environmental Overview of the Effects of Burnt Earth,” and a presentation on the State of Kuwait’s efforts to declare the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, as well as the association’s efforts to raise awareness of the day’s events, in addition to a general discussion with the general public participating in those activities.
He explained that “Dr. Bader Al-Mashaan Al-Enezi, Director of the State of Kuwait’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and his deputy, Mr. Mazen Al-Ansari, received the association’s delegation participating in the third of the specialized thematic weeks organized by Expo 2020 Dubai, in cooperation with UN-Habitat and Siemens, the official Premier Partner for Infrastructure Digitalization, with the participation of government officials from the most populous and resilient cities, and a select group of development and technology experts.”.
He added, “During this week, which discusses how to build communities and make our future habitats sustainable, the association participated in raising awareness in the “Beach Safari” program and the “Climate Change Literacy” campaign, which are directly related to building a future for a generation that is more aware and interested in the environment and sustainable development.” He pointed out that “the Beach Safari program includes awareness sessions on the Environmental Protection Law, especially the articles related to Kuwait Bay and wildlife and its creatures, while the “Climate Change” booklet that was distributed at the exhibition focuses on raising awareness and introducing the risks and effects of climate change on many areas of life, health, the economy, the environment, and others, which is one of the goals of this week.”.
Nawaf Al-Muwail stated that “the State of Kuwait’s pavilion reflects its coastal and marine environments, as well as Kuwait’s birds and plants, which demonstrates the importance of local environments and the Kuwaiti vision for environmental care and sustainable development.” He added, “The association contributed through visual presentations of Kuwaiti environments using materials from its filmed television programs translated into English to introduce visitors to natural environments and the leading role that the State of Kuwait plays in preserving them.”.
