Joint cooperation between Al Farwaniyah Governorate and the society

Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, confirmed that her meeting with the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Athbi Al-Nasser Al-Athbi Al-Sabah, at his office in the Governorate’s General Diwan resulted in many frameworks for joint cooperation, praising the depth of the close bilateral relations and future cooperation in various fields of common interest.
Dr. Al-Aqab explained the extent of the keenness of the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Athbi Al-Nasser, to activate many aspects of shared social responsibility, noting that the meeting addressed supporting the society in its request for a permanent headquarters to continue its community giving, especially as it celebrates its golden jubilee this year and the passing of 50 years since its establishment in 1974.
In the same context, regarding the Governorates Environment Committee, Al-Aqab stated, “Years ago, the Governorates Environment Committee had a positive societal impact, and the society commends the objectives of such committees in spreading environmental awareness, organizing environmental activities and events, and communicating with the community. Therefore, the Kuwait Environment Protection Society calls for the restructuring and activation of such specialized community committees, given their close connection to the Sustainable Development Goals, the Healthy Cities Initiative, and other goals that serve the interests of citizens and residents in the governorates.” She praised the approval and desire of His Excellency the Governor of Farwaniya to move towards activating the committee, pending the memorandum submitted by the society regarding the Governorates Environment Committee, while also commending the roles of its founders and those who have been in charge of it for years.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab concluded by noting that her meeting with the Governor of Farwaniya, Sheikh Athbi Al-Nasser, reviewed the society's fifty-year journey and its achievements at all local, regional and international levels, including its annual national and international initiative, "International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict," as well as its educational awareness program, "Green Schools," which the society launched 14 years ago for school and university students, educational bodies and supervisors. In addition, it addressed the series of documentary programs on wildlife in Kuwait, which the society has been producing and completing annually since 2015, in addition to the roles and tasks of the society's Friends of the Environment team and their preparation and qualification to undertake environmental community tasks through a series of field and field activities and their involvement in multiple conferences and workshops.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Aqab thanked Sheikh Adhbi Al-Nasser for the warm welcome and hospitality, praising his keenness on ways to participate in many joint programs and activities and to work on developing them for the better always.
