As part of the activities of the Green Schools Program of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society in its fourteenth season for the academic year 2024-2025, Dr. Wafaa Behbehani, in cooperation with and prepared by the environmentally conscious student Bibi Al-Khadari, presented an awareness workshop entitled “How to Preserve the Environment” to the students of Arwa Bint Al-Harith Primary School for Girls, in the presence of 44 students.
In a press statement today, the Environment Association noted that “this workshop is the fiftieth lecture in the series of environmental lectures offered by the program, which aims to instill the values of sustainability in students from different educational levels.”.
She emphasized that “the workshop addressed a range of theoretical and practical topics aimed at promoting positive environmental behavior among students, and presented ideas applicable at school and at home, such as recycling plastic and encouraging the search for environmentally friendly alternatives.”.
“The concept of the environment and its components was highlighted, as well as the importance of preserving it, with an explanation of the ways in which students can contribute to protecting it through simple behaviors, most notably: not littering, preserving the terrestrial and marine environment, using environmentally friendly means of transportation, rationalizing water and electricity consumption, and planting plants and trees in the surrounding environment.”.
The association noted, “The workshop also included a simplified explanation of the provisions of the Kuwaiti Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014, with an emphasis on the importance of adhering to proper environmental behavior and learning about the penalties associated with littering and wasting resources. The students also learned about the role of the Environmental Police in monitoring and enforcing environmental laws, through monitoring violations, spreading awareness, and contributing to the protection of natural resources, which enhances respect for the law and the role of society in protecting the environment.”.
The “How to Protect the Environment” workshop concluded with an invitation to the students to be role models in their school and community, by adopting responsible behaviors that reflect their environmental awareness and contribute to building a more sustainable future.
