Jordanian Minister of Environment receives delegation from the society

Dr. Muawiya Khalid Al-Radaideh, Minister of Environment and Chairman of the National Climate Change Committee of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, received Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, Chair of the National Committee of the Union in Kuwait and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, at the headquarters of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Amman, in a meeting that addressed the activities of the committee headed by the Society and to learn about its activities related to biodiversity.

Dr. Al-Aqab said that “the meeting addressed several topics related to the work of the committee, perhaps the most prominent of which was the emphasis on the importance of environmental media, audio, visual and written,” highlighting “the efforts of the Environment Society in presenting and producing the documentary series on wildlife in Kuwait in line with the activities included in the activities that serve the goals and endeavors of the National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature,” noting that “the series gained the approval of Dr. Razan Mubarak, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Dr. Hani Al-Shaer, the Regional Director of the Union for West Asia, in recognition of its importance which overlapped and intersected with the awareness and educational aspect.”.

During her meeting with Jordanian Minister of Environment Dr. Muawiya Al-Radaideh, Al-Aqab reviewed the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection’s approach to the biodiversity issue through its inclusion in its educational awareness program “Green Schools”, which the Society has been organizing annually for 14 years and in which specialized academic and scientific elites participate in delivering its lectures and workshops, noting its influential impact on spreading the correct environmental culture among school students.

She stated that she “presented a general idea about the campaign to raise awareness of the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflicts – November 6, which the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection adopts the task of raising awareness of annually and organizes a scientific and awareness-raising celebration for it, in which many governmental bodies and civil organizations from Kuwait, the Gulf and the Arab world participate, in order to demonstrate the impact of wars on the environment and biodiversity.”.

Dr. Al-Aqab noted that, on the sidelines of the meeting, she participated in an exhibition of local Jordanian products that are environmentally friendly and sustainable, produced by many civil associations, organizations, and volunteer groups in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
