The Kuwait Environment Protection Society organized an educational trip for its Friends of the Environment team to the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research’s Research and Innovation Station “Kabed Reserve” as part of the scientific program “Empowering the Youth”.
Association member and supervisor of the Friends of the Environment team, Ward Al-Bakr, said that the association used to organize educational and training trips for members of the Friends of the Environment team aged 8-16 years to qualify them with correct environmental knowledge and prepare them to continue their specialized educational or voluntary environmental journey.
Ward Al-Bakr explained that the educational trip organized for the team to the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research’s Research and Innovation Station “Kabed Reserve” came in conjunction with the external monitoring and documentation process in the reserve for the program Every Day a Plant in its second part, noting that “the team members learned during the trip about the different types of plants found in the reserve through a field tour during which she provided a simplified scientific explanation to the team. They learned about the types of perennial and annual plants, collected some plant samples, and practiced drying them in presses special for drying plants to preserve them. They also collected seeds of some plants and learned about their differences, the diversity of their forms, and the way they spread.”.
She stated that the association seeks to prepare a team of environmental friends within the framework of its educational project to empower young people, with the aim of opening doors to experience and learning about the world, which will help young people sharpen their skills and refine their talents, which will enhance their confidence in their abilities and raise their level of competence. She pointed out that the project includes many field visits and external participations locally and internationally, as well as an intensive program of scientific lectures.
