Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, confirmed that her meeting with His Excellency the Minister of Oil and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, Tariq Suleiman Al-Roumi, at his office, addressed numerous environmental issues in the State of Kuwait, both in their executive aspect, represented by the Environment Public Authority, and their societal aspect, represented by the Society. The meeting emphasized the complementary roles of both entities for the public good, particularly given the Society's proven competence and efficiency on the Board of Directors of the Environment Public Authority since 2015.
Dr. Al-Aqab explained that she reviewed with His Excellency the Minister of Oil the most important milestones of the Environment Society’s fifty-one-year journey, in addition to ways to support the Society’s activities. She praised the Ministry of Oil’s interest in supporting some previous activities, and indicated that the Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment and the Minister of Oil showed great interest in the participation of the Society’s members in climate summits and its role in highlighting the Kuwaiti effort, praising the Society’s achievements in presenting the Kuwaiti experience in a pavilion in the Blue Zone and organizing side events despite the weakness and limited financial support that the Society receives.
She noted that His Excellency the Minister of Oil, Tariq Al-Roumi, had directed the renewal of the Ministry's membership in the association as a legal entity, a status it has held for decades. Dr. Al-Aqab then reviewed the latest developments regarding the organization of the first Kuwaiti Environmental Engineers Forum and Exhibition, which is held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister, Dr. Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. His Excellency the Minister of Oil was tasked by His Highness with representing him at the forum's opening and inauguration. His Excellency commended the forum's objectives, which focus on the role of youth in development projects and environmental work in the State of Kuwait, and emphasized the State of Kuwait's commitment and the directives of His Highness the Emir to support young people in building a better future.
Dr. Al-Aqab concluded by noting the praise of the Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment and Minister of Oil for the Society’s production of the documentary series on wildlife in the State of Kuwait. The President of the Society reviewed the promo for the new program in the series, “Every Day a Bird, Part Two,” which His Excellency praised, commending its quality and the importance of its broadcast on Kuwait State Television.
