The association is organizing a dialogue session as a side event to the climate summit on food security.

As part of the association’s participation in the “Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP28“, in the Blue Zone designated for official delegations, governments and stakeholders, as it is the only Kuwaiti civil organization that has observer status in the ”United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change UNFCCC“, the association held a side event at the summit, which was a dialogue session to discuss ”Food and Early Warning Systems in Different Regions – Challenges they face, experience and technical and financial support required“, which was organized by the Kuwaiti Association for Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Arab Network for Environment and Development ”Raed” and the Engineering Association for Environment and Development in Iraq, in the Blue Zone at the Climate Summit in Dubai, and the association was represented by Engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi, the official spokesperson and a founding member of the Environmental Engineers Team, and the session was moderated by Dr. Emad Adly, President of the Arab Network for Environment and Development.

Engineer Al-Ramzi pointed out that “the 6 experts from 5 Arab countries who spoke at the session are Engineer Muhammad Abdul-Mawjoud, Director of the Engineering Association for Development and Environment (EADE) in the Republic of Iraq, Engineer Youssef Al-Ramzi from the Environmental Engineers Team at the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, Professor Dr. Hisham Al-Askari, Director of the Earth Systems Science and DTA Solutions Laboratory, Chapman in the Kingdom of Morocco, Professor Dr. Idris Shaho from the Kingdom of Morocco, Ms. Suakin Babiker from the Republic of Sudan, and Engineer Abdul-Razzaq Musaed from the Republic of Algeria.”.

During the session, Al-Ramzi explained that “the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection is concerned with raising environmental awareness through environmental media and other awareness programs. Today, it is a documentary material that documents efforts towards the environment within the State of Kuwait and documents the state’s research, legislative, executive, and educational efforts in the environmental field. Over the past 10 years, the Society has worked on producing and launching a series of documentary programs to document wildlife in the State of Kuwait. It has produced 9 seasons, each season dealing with a type of biodiversity, which are the programs Every Day a Bird, Every Day a Plant, Every Day a Wildlife, Every Day a Fish, Every Day a Picnic, Every Day a Picnic 2 on the Border, Every Day a Wildlife 2, Every Day a Plant 2, and Every Day a Bird 2. The series includes more than 250 episodes that covered biodiversity.”.

He emphasized that “this documentary series is now officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as a supplementary educational resource for the curriculum, as the episodes were prepared and reviewed scientifically, security-wise, and legally. They were also used during virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This series is a gift from the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection to the Arab community through Arab environmental media.” He noted that “the methodology of the Society’s plans and programs is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, in addition to raising awareness of Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014, different types of environments, environmental development projects, environmental crisis and disaster management, and the efforts of various executive and research bodies in protecting the environment. It also addresses various environmental issues, the effects of marine and land pollution, air quality, and many other environmental aspects and fields.”.

Within the framework of the dialogue session, Engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi said, “Our talk today is about food security. One of the episodes of the fourth season of the program ”Every Day a Fish’ was shown to learn about Kuwaiti efforts in this field. It is the Al-Shabiti episode, which documents the successful research experiments to produce hybrid fish with positive characteristics that can be used to enhance food security.”.
