The association continues its scientific program at the climate summit “COP 29”.”

”The use of remote sensing in monitoring the growth of natural plants,” scientific, field and field studies and research were presented by the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection at the Arab League pavilion before an academic, governmental and civil gathering of representatives and guests of the climate summit in Azerbaijan,“ said Dr. Meshaal Abdullah, the Society’s representative at COP29.

In this context, the Environment Society continued to present its scientific lecture program and panel discussions within its diverse activities schedule in the Blue Zone designated for governments and global environmental organizations accredited by the United Nations Environment Programme as observers, at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.

During the climate summit, the association’s representative, Dr. Meshaal Abdullah, reviewed several reliable field studies and scientific research on the use of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in monitoring and growing natural plants in the State of Kuwait, noting that “through the studies we conducted, it became clear that annual plants, which play an important role in the desert environment, need a specific type of soil, and that soil gains its importance in terms of its ability to retain water more, which affects the growth of those plants.”.

Dr. Meshaal added: “Through field research, areas in the State of Kuwait were identified that are suitable for carrying out rehabilitation operations for desert plants, as their soil contains a reservoir of water called (green water), which greatly helps the plants to grow.” He pointed out that “by using artificial intelligence in our studies and research, we identified the climatic factors affecting those plants, especially climatic factors, and we made maps of the areas targeted in the future for natural plant rehabilitation operations in Kuwait.”.
