Her Excellency the Minister of Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleej, received a delegation from the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, headed by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dr. Wijdan Aloqab, and in the presence of the Society member and Vice-Head of the Environmental Engineers Team, Environmental Engineer Yousef Alramzi. The meeting included an extensive discussion on the importance of strengthening cooperation and integration between government agencies and civil society organizations, in order to support environmental initiatives and consolidate the concepts of environmental sustainability.
In this context, Dr. Wijdan Aloqab stated, “The meeting addressed the crucial role of civil society organizations in promoting environmental awareness across all segments of society. It also reviewed the association’s key activities and programs at both the local and international levels, reflecting its commitment to supporting environmental and developmental issues in accordance with best practices.” She added, “We presented the association’s efforts to Her Excellency the Minister, highlighting its active participation in regional and international forums and its role in supporting environmental initiatives with a global dimension. We emphasized the importance of integrating efforts between government agencies and civil society organizations to achieve environmental sustainability.”.
Dr. Aloqab expressed her appreciation for the state’s move towards establishing a ministry specializing in environmental work, which contributes to unifying efforts and enhancing the efficiency of institutional performance, and which will supervise the relevant bodies, including the General Authority for the Environment, the General Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, and the General Authority for Food and Nutrition, in order to strengthen the environmental work system and achieve integration between the relevant sectors.
