The Kuwait Environment Protection Society organized a field tour for a delegation from the “Birdlife International” organization, consisting of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khader, the organization’s regional director in the Middle East, and Dr. Imad Al-Atrash, the executive director of the Wildlife Society in the State of Palestine, to the “Habitat Museum Exhibition” to learn about one aspect of the State of Kuwait’s efforts in the field of preserving and protecting the environment, and raising awareness of the components of wildlife in the country. They were accompanied during the tour by the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, the Director of Programs and Activities, Board Member, Janan Behzad, and the Head of the Bird Monitoring and Protection Team, Muhammad Shah.
Mohammed Shah confirmed that “the BirdLife International delegation was briefed during the tour on the environments and habitats in the Habitat Museum exhibition, as well as on the Kuwait Environment Protection Society’s imprint on the museum through its pioneering role in the museum’s founding phase. The museum includes the panoramic display of the Kuwaiti environment, which was supported by the Bird Monitoring and Protection Team, who assisted the international photography team that was brought in to complete this panorama for the museum. The Bird Monitoring and Protection Team accompanied the photography team to various sites and habitats in the State of Kuwait to document them for the purposes of display in the museum. The environment panorama screen also documents the efforts of the Bird Monitoring and Protection Team in environmental work for all museum visitors, reflecting the role of such museums in documenting the roles of civil society in this field.“.
Shah pointed out that “the data and names of the different bird species on the interactive screens inside the museum are the work of the members of the bird monitoring and protection team at the Kuwait Environment Protection Society,” stressing that “the Society is submitting to the museum a proposal to update the scientific names of some birds according to the updates of international organizations and competent authorities. This initiative from the Society comes to enhance the museum’s role in environmental awareness by presenting scientific developments on scientific and local names that often change according to new research and analyses. The Society and the team are also fully prepared to provide the museum and its managers with pictures of some new species and birds that are missing from the database of some exhibits.“ He praised the efforts and efficiency of the exhibition managers and its members and their keenness to ensure the comprehensiveness of its exhibits and to highlight all the components, habitats and environments of wildlife in the State of Kuwait in an awareness and educational message about the importance of preserving and protecting them.
