Engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi, the official spokesperson and Vice President of the Environmental Engineers Team at the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, participated in a scientific awareness workshop entitled "A Journey into the Depths of Kuwait's Marine Environment – Diversity, Sustainability, and Protection." The workshop was organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) with the participation of a select group of researchers from the Environment and Life Sciences Research Center at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). Engineer Al-Ramzi explained that "the workshop included the screening of a documentary highlighting the Sulaibikhat Marine Reserve and its role in protecting marine biodiversity in Kuwait. A scientific paper entitled 'The Sulaibikhat Marine Reserve in Kuwait: Achievements and Future Plans' was also presented by Dr. Turki Al-Saeed, Director of the Marine and Coastal Management Program. Dr. Manal Al-Kandari delivered a lecture entitled 'Biodiversity of Marine Organisms in Intertidal Zones and its Role in Environmental Sustainability,' while Dr. Abrar Akbar focused her lecture on the importance of mangrove trees on the Kuwaiti coast and their vital environmental role." He noted that “the Sulaibikhat Marine Nature Reserve is one of the important marine reserves in Kuwait Bay, declared by a decision of the Supreme Council for the Environment in 2016 with the aim of protecting the marine environment, developing biodiversity, and rehabilitating its ecosystem.” He emphasized “the importance of encouraging youth and volunteer teams to attend such workshops and scientific seminars,” pointing out that “these events represent a unique opportunity to broaden their knowledge of profound environmental issues and enhance their understanding of their role as active participants in protecting Kuwait’s natural resources.” He added that “raising environmental awareness among members of society, especially the younger generation, contributes to building a society that is more respectful of the environment and the sustainability of its resources for future generations.” He noted that “youth participation in scientific events is not limited to learning alone, but also gives them the opportunity to contribute to practical solutions and make a tangible positive impact on the Kuwaiti environmental community,” stressing that “investing in youth is an investment in the future of a healthy and sustainable environment.”.
