The Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection called on the Civil Service Commission to expedite the creation of job titles for environmental specializations within the public sector, rather than replacing existing titles, and to submit these titles to ministries and agencies for inclusion in their recruitment plans. The Society also urged the Commission to establish an environmental department to monitor its compliance with the Environmental Protection Law within its facilities. This came at the conclusion of the second international conference, "The Future of Human Resources (New Roles for a Changing Era)," held virtually under the generous patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hind bint Abdulaziz Al Qasimi, President of the Emirates International Business Club.
During her participation as a guest of honor at the conference, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Environment Society, addressed the concept of “green jobs” as a key indicator for the future of human resources, noting that the Society calls on Kuwaiti students to study the environmental university specialization, which is consistent with “green jobs” that are covered by more than 20 specializations that many countries around the world have moved towards dedicating themselves to, whether in their university studies or in providing jobs for graduates of those specializations.
Dr. Al-Aqab highlighted the association's awareness-raising roles in this regard, saying, "We formulate and develop them with the goal of producing human outputs that meet the requirements and capabilities of 'green jobs' and are qualified for them. Here, it is worth mentioning the interactive educational program 'Green Schools' that the association has been offering annually for more than a decade to young people from schools and universities, as well as teachers and elites from institutions, bodies, and companies concerned with youth and the environment." She added, "The association expresses its thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for its sound assessment of the future of work in the State of Kuwait, and its interest in including environmental studies and specializations within scholarship plans to study, for example, environmental science and environmental engineering, which began sending Kuwaiti students to study in various countries around the world for nearly ten years.".
She pointed out that “the association began highlighting these specializations through the Green Schools program, using its awareness and educational sessions for eleventh and twelfth grade students to prepare them for university studies specializing in the environment, which we have often called for establishing and activating. This is achieved through comprehensive preparation and then comprehensive awareness of issues with a societal dimension that students can engage with. The association has had many programs, events, and initiatives in this regard, in addition to introducing them to the future of green jobs, which the State of Kuwait will encourage due to our strategic need for them and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, which are not very different from the New Kuwait 2035 vision.“ She emphasized that ”in less than two years of the efforts of those in charge of the program to raise awareness among eleventh and twelfth grade students, we learned that the number of scholarship recipients in these specializations has increased to include more than one hundred and fifty students in the western part of the United States alone, an unprecedented numerical leap that reflects the success of this type of awareness.” And the cognitive approach was appropriate.
For his part, Dr. Ali Ibrahim, Chairman of the Conference and CEO of Create Yourself, indicated that “the conference, which included more than 250 participants from various countries around the world, and after three days of work in conference sessions, dialogues, and the opinions and ideas of consultants and speakers regarding the challenges facing our human resources, the growing economic developments, and global practices in human capital management, reached an agreement on several recommendations adopted by the conference's organizing committee.“ He explained that ”among the most prominent of these recommendations are the creation of interactive educational systems that identify talents and encourage students to research, think, and interact in order to adapt to current and future changes and find their place in the future work environment, and investment in training and specialized programs in online learning and blended or hybrid learning methods, as well as developing the skills of human resources and adopting training based on strengths.” Individual and benefiting from it in a manner that suits the circumstances and capabilities of institutions and in light of their goals and strategic visions, and continuous awareness of the mental health of our human resources and increasing attention to it has become a necessity, not a luxury, in addition to paying attention to professional coaching, as it has become one of the strongest tools for raising awareness, developing and improving performance and efficiency of human resources and helping them to change for the better, and developing a sense of creativity and innovation among our human resources and providing them with assistance and guiding them to the top, as their success is closely linked to the success of the institution they work for, and adopting modern digital systems and applications in managing our human resources while providing them with the opportunity to train on them in a manner that suits the nature of our operations and our institutional needs.”.
