450 participants in the Environmental Society's specialized training program: 9 courses for capacity building and sustainable environmental development

The Kuwait Environment Protection Society announced the main features of its specialized environmental training program, which is scheduled to be held during the months of February and March at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Environmental Training, affiliated with the Society, with the participation of representatives of several ministries, government agencies, civil organizations, and Kuwaiti and Arab colleges and institutes.

M. Abdul-Amir Al-Jazaf, Vice President of the Association, said that the training program includes (9) specialized courses in the fields of “The Seven Most Effective Rules for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in the Environment, Environmental Visual Media and Documentation of Wildlife, The Relationship Between Land Uses and Biodiversity Loss, and Analyzing the Status of Environmental Policies and Aligning Them with Development Plans,“ as well as courses on “Remote Sensing Applications and Their Uses in Combating Desertification, Strategic Environmental Planning, Regional Challenges in Addressing Climate Change, Preserving Kuwait’s Native Plants, and Managing Protected Areas.”.

M. Al-Jazaf explained that the nine courses are presented by academic experts in environmental affairs and sustainable development, adding that “the program includes the participation of representatives from government agencies and civil organizations in the State of Kuwait who are concerned with the topics of the training program, and the participation of (450) trainees from those agencies, with (50) Kuwaiti participants for each course, and the participation of many Kuwaiti, Gulf and Arab universities and institutes, in addition to adopting recommendations and proposals at the end of each course to be submitted to the concerned authorities.”.

He explained that “the training program relies on an engaging approach to presenting many of its topics through interactive sessions between experts, academics, and trainees. The program includes several visual presentations accompanying the training sessions, in addition to raising issues related to the content of each session, through which trainees and participants are given the opportunity to present their visions, culminating in their contribution to providing solutions and recommendations. Academics and experts also deliberately raise discussion issues in the form of questions that address content covered in the session, in order to allow for expanding the discussion circle, thus providing an exchange of experiences and information.”.

M. Al-Jazaf stated that “the training program aims to spread environmental knowledge and culture and enhance capacity building among many sectors and groups of society, especially among young people and youth. The association has dedicated it to middle and older age groups of both genders to ensure the expansion of the base of participation, to generalize the benefit and to achieve the general goal, which is to spread the correct environmental culture and knowledge.”.
