Janan Behzad, Director of Programs and Activities and Board Member of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, confirmed that, as part of participating in training specialized personnel at the Scientific Center, the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Environmental Training presented two training workshops on “Building Environmental Responsibility” and the second on “Environmental Protection Laws”.
Behzad explained, “Thirty trainees participated in the two workshops, presenting their proposals and views on social responsibility as a vital element in local efforts with its economic, social, and environmental dimensions of responsibility.” She added, “The participants also presented proposals for ambitious environmental projects based on their various specializations and their visions for the future of Kuwait’s environment in light of the application of environmental laws and the establishment of environmentally related projects within development projects.”.
She noted that she presented a scientific lecture on several topics, including (Challenges and solutions of the reality of the Kuwaiti environment, climate change and its potential effects on the State of Kuwait, desertification, plastic waste in the terrestrial and marine environments, in addition to a general understanding of Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014 and amending some of its provisions by Law No. 99 of 2015, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and their connection to the environment and the importance of involving it in environmental work), pointing out that the trainees participated in practical applications on the “Our Environment” website and the analysis of data available from various sources on the Internet.
Janan Behzad stated, “Civil society organizations play interactive roles with the issues and concerns of communities in parallel with governmental efforts. From this standpoint, they are entrusted with participating in the implementation of applied programs, each in its specialized field, as a contribution to advancing the achievement of those efforts.”.
