Janan Behzad, Secretary General of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, confirmed that her meeting with Professor Dr. Mohamed Sayed Mohamed, Director of the Arab Open University in Kuwait, and Professor Dr. Omar Al-Jarrah, Vice President of the University for Planning and Development, aimed to discuss several environmental issues and explore ways of joint cooperation between the university and the Society for the Environment, as well as review the signing of a memorandum of understanding that serves both parties in the field of the environment, scientific research, and joint activities. She pointed out that the university has made great strides in this field through the implementation of many global environmental initiatives in general and smart environmentally friendly initiatives in particular.
During the meeting, Professor Dr. Mohamed Sayed Mohamed, Director of the Arab Open University in Kuwait, reviewed aspects of joint environmental research publication with the Environmental Protection Society, the exchange of databases related to the agreement, and the extent of joint cooperation in launching joint environmental programs and projects, as well as working to support the Sustainable Development Goals. This is a message to everyone that we have the right, responsibility, and opportunity to change for the better and build capacities in the field of sustainable development. In addition, there is knowledge support in environmental consulting and research studies, and participation in the media campaign on social media for conferences and programs of both parties.
For her part, Janan Behzad noted the forms of joint cooperation under the memorandum, including “utilizing the facilities of both parties to provide courses and seminars of joint cooperation. And the extent of the association’s contribution in providing support for initiatives in accordance with the systems and regulations of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Community Development.”.
She explained that “the planned memorandum of understanding between the association and the university aims to facilitate research and analysis of environmental information for decision-makers and researchers to gain insight and improve the quality of research and studies in the fields of development and planning policies, establish a network of experts and specialists in the fields of environmental development, facilitate the exchange of scientific and practical experiences between the two parties in these fields, spread knowledge and awareness of issues related to the environment and development, and provide databases and information in various related fields.”.
