The association is participating in the “Sustainable Water – Towards a Secure Water Future” forum and celebration.”

As part of the celebration of Arab Water Day and World Water Day, and to promote integration between Arab scientific and practical efforts in the field of water resources management to achieve sustainable development, the Kuwait Environment Protection Society participated in the scientific forum and Arab celebration “Sustainable Water – Towards a Secure Water Future”, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

The association was represented at the forum and celebration by the Executive Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Environment Magazine, colleague Rajab Abu Al-Dahab. During the discussion session, which included Arab leaders from ministers of water and environment, university presidents, deans of colleges, heads of Arab academies, UNESCO experts, and scientists, he spoke about the association’s role in the field of water, including the water axis of the “Green Schools“ program, the documentary series on wildlife in the State of Kuwait, media and awareness of water conservation and avoiding waste, and the association’s role in the Environmental Protection Law and articles related to water.

During the discussion session at the celebration, the Kuwait Environment Protection Society proposed “including in the stages of general education the establishment of a water school or water diploma, and including in the forum’s statement an Arab community message about water to be broadcast on television and radio stations, newspapers and electronic publishing.”.

The scientific forum and Arab celebration, “Sustainable Water – Towards a Secure Water Future,” aimed to achieve a set of objectives, including: highlighting the importance of sustainable water resource management in light of climate change; discussing the impacts of climate change on water resources; promoting cooperation between research institutions and the public and private sectors to achieve effective water management; reviewing innovative strategies for adapting to water security challenges; and supporting regional and international efforts to enhance their role in addressing water resource challenges.

These objectives emerged from discussions on several key themes during the participants' speeches, including: the importance of sustainable water resource management; the challenges facing water security in the Arab world; technological solutions for water reuse and waste reduction; the importance of regional and international cooperation in natural resource management; and the role of innovation and scientific research in promoting resource sustainability.

It is worth mentioning that the scientific forum and Arab celebration “Sustainable Water – Towards a Secure Water Future” was organized by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Meteorology at the League of Arab States, and the Department of Water, Housing and Disaster Reduction at the League of Arab States, headed by Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Concerned with Environmental Affairs and Director of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Meteorology and Supervisor of the Department of Water, Housing and Disaster Reduction at the League of Arab States, in cooperation with the Arab Union for Sustainable Development and Environment, a member of the Executive Office of the Forum of Arab Specialized Federations at the League of Arab States and a member of the member organizations of the World Islamic Council for Da’wah and Relief, under the supervision of its Secretary-General Dr. Ashraf Abdel Aziz, a member of the Executive Office and Head of the Coordination and Cooperation Committee of the Forum of Arab Specialized Federations at the League of Arab States, and the President of the Union, Counselor Nader Jaafar.
