Dr. Munaf Behbehani, Chairman of the Wildlife Protection Committee of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, indicated that his meeting with the President of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Ramsar Convention (Wetlands), Ambassador Radius Chivamba, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife of the Republic of Zimbabwe, resulted in an agreement on the need to advance international and national efforts towards the preservation of wetlands and their environments.
Dr. Munaf Behbehani, representative of the Environment Society at this international forum, pointed out that the conference was held under the slogan “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future” in line with unifying international and regional efforts in this regard, noting that one of the most important decisions resulting from the conference was accepting the invitation of the Republic of Panama to hold the sixteenth conference on its territory in 2028.
He noted that the conference approved more than forty programs for the next three years, the most important of which is the Convention’s action strategy for the international protection of wetlands, as well as the election of the main and sub-committees, where the Islamic Republic of Iran was elected as the representative of the West Asia region and a principal delegate in the Standing Committee, and the United Arab Emirates as an alternate member.
