Gaza relief team honored as part of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction activities

Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, stated that honoring the Gaza relief team in the “Kuwait By Your Side – Gaza Relief Campaign” falls within the framework of the Society’s national contributions stemming from its social responsibility. She noted that the initiative to honor the Gaza relief team was reflected in the team’s invitation to the “International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction” celebration, which carried the slogan ”Financing Resilience, Not Disasters.“ The event was recently organized by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society in cooperation with the General Fire Force, under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Talal Mohammed Al-Roumi, with the participation of Kuwaiti and Arab entities and organizations. Dr. Al-Aqab added… Al-Aqab stated that honoring this distinguished team of workers and volunteers from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society comes as part of the celebrations for this occasion, in recognition of the Kuwaiti approach to providing all means of relief and assistance to those afflicted by disasters and their repercussions, and in pride of its constant leadership in humanitarian work, and in response to the humanitarian role of the State of Kuwait within the framework of its continuous support for humanitarian causes and its support for the Palestinian people. She praised the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the success of the ”Kuwait By Your Side – Gaza Relief Campaign,“ a humanitarian campaign that aimed to send aid and basic needs of food supplies to support our people in Gaza via the air bridge. Al-Aqab mentioned that the celebration celebrated these national volunteer efforts and honored the Gaza Relief Team in the presence of the Treasurer of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Saud Abdullah Al-Dabbous, who joined the patron of the celebration, the Chief of the General Fire Force, His Excellency Major General Talal Muhammad Al-Roumi, in honoring the team members: Zainab Muhammad Qambar, Munira Jassim Al-Saeed, Abdulrahman Hamad Al-Saleh, Muhammad Al-Kasadi, and Abdullah Ali Al-Hindi, the head of the Gaza Relief Team. Abdullah Rashid Ali, Dalal Hamza Al-Khalifa, Iman Haider, Hakim Al-Zawi, Mohsen Jaragh Al-Balushi, Talal Faisal Hassan, Majid Ibrahim Al-Ali, Abdulaziz Abdulkarim Munshed, Faisal Saud Al-Jarallah, Faisal Saud Al-Dabbous, Jamila Al-Saad, and Fahd Suleiman Al-Fajji.” On this occasion, His Excellency Ambassador Khaled Mohammed Suleiman Al-Mughamis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, stated, ”The importance of investing in prevention and preparedness before crises occur reflects the State of Kuwait’s humanitarian approach in supporting affected communities and building their resilience.” He also announced the successful entry of 15 trucks loaded with Kuwaiti relief aid into the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Abu Salem crossing, in cooperation and coordination with the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Cairo and the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, as a continuation of the humanitarian efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. The number of flights within the second Kuwaiti air bridge has reached 19 so far, with 15 flights via the Arab Republic of Egypt and 4 flights via the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, carrying approximately 360 tons of relief food supplies. Ambassador Khaled Mohammed Suleiman Al-Mughamis affirmed that “this initiative comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and embodies the State of Kuwait’s commitment to the principles of humanitarianism and relief. The aid to Gaza is a practical model of the concept of “resilient, not disaster, financing,” emphasizing that “strengthening societal resilience begins with humanitarian action on the ground and reflects the spirit of humanitarian solidarity that distinguishes Kuwait, both its leadership and its people.”” In this context, Dr. Al-Aqab referred to the many events and activities organized by the society in cooperation with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and hosted by the Red Crescent at its headquarters, in addition to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society’s participation in many joint activities with the Kuwait Environment Protection Society. She congratulated the Board of Directors, headed by Mr. Khaled Mohammed Suleiman Mohammed Al-Mughamis, appreciating their efforts in continuing to excel in relief giving for that prestigious national institution, distinguished regionally and internationally.
