As part of the 15th season of the "Green Schools" program implemented by the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, and in its commitment to promoting a culture of safety and security in the school environment, the Society, in cooperation with Zakaria Al-Ansari School, organized a practical workshop entitled "First Aid" for 53 female teachers. The workshop was presented by Professor Ali Al-Hashemi from the College of Nursing, under the supervision of the school principal, Ms. Ahlam Bounajma, and the head of the department, Ms. Nadera Al-Shatti. The Secretary-General and Director of Programs and Activities at the Society, Ms. Jenan Behzad, noted that "the workshop aimed to enhance the preparedness of the teaching and administrative staff to deal with emergencies within the school and to reinforce the concept of safety as a key pillar of sustainability in green schools." She added that "the workshop included practical training on how to deal with wounds, burns, fainting, choking, and minor bleeding, in addition to a detailed explanation of the most important items in a first aid kit and how to use them correctly." For his part, lecturer Ali Al-Hashemi emphasized in his statement that “first aid is not merely a medical task, but a humanitarian skill that every teacher should possess, as it represents the first line of defense in protecting students and colleagues in emergency situations.” He added that “these skills cultivate confidence and create a safe and sustainable learning environment.” He noted that “the workshop addressed school safety and security procedures, such as ensuring the safety of corridors and emergency exits, identifying safe assembly points, and practicing organized evacuation during fires or earthquakes, in addition to the importance of providing a fully equipped first aid kit in every classroom and activity room.” In the same context, Jinan Behzad explained that “the activities of the annual cultural and educational season, ”Green Schools,“ for the 2025-2026 academic year, are organized by the Environmental Protection Association for the 15th consecutive year with the aim of instilling the values of environmental citizenship and promoting a sustainable culture in educational institutions.” She stated that the “Green Schools” program targets students and teachers in public and private schools across all grade levels, as part of the association’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a spirit of initiative and environmental volunteerism, and to integrate sustainability concepts into education and school practices. Behzad added that “this year’s program is presented in an integrated format, combining in-person events with online workshops via interactive communication platforms. It includes a wide range of lectures, activities, and practical programs in various fields, including biodiversity conservation, renewable energy, water conservation, and climate change.”.
