Dr. Wajdan Ali Al-Aqab, Secretary-General of Environment and Sustainable Development at the General Union of Arab Producers, affiliated with the Council of Arab Information Ministers, affirmed that “the expert team tasked with developing the unified Arab plan for media engagement with environmental issues commended, during their meeting in Cairo, Kuwait’s pioneering experience in media coverage of environmental issues, particularly the production of video documentaries, specialized radio programs, and environmental magazines, and the integration of these products into the educational process to disseminate environmental awareness based on sound scientific principles, thereby enhancing the impact of environmental media on society.” This statement followed her participation in the team meeting, in which the General Union of Arab Producers, from which the General Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development operates, participated as an observer and partner within the subcommittee responsible for preparing the plan before its official adoption. Dr. Al-Aqab noted that the meeting was opened and chaired by the Director of the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, Minister Plenipotentiary Haider Al-Jubouri, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. She noted that “the General Union of Arab Producers, through its Secretary-General for Environment and Sustainable Development, proposed amending the date of the Arab Forum for Environmental Media to be held during the first half of 2026, to ensure the readiness of the programs and discussion topics, and in direct coordination with the Technical Secretariat of the League of Arab States.” She explained that the General Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development “proposed during the meeting a comprehensive training program comprising several courses to build the capacities of Arab media professionals in the fields of environment and sustainable development, with the dates and venues to be coordinated with the Technical Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in order to achieve institutional integration and enhance environmental media professionalism.”.
