The Arab Producers Union, affiliated with the Council of Arab Information Ministers at the League of Arab States, considered that “Kuwait’s hosting of the 104th session of the Standing Committee for Arab Media and the 22nd regular session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, with the participation of representatives of member states and relevant organizations and unions, reflects and reinforces Kuwait’s national role and dimension in supporting Arab causes, as well as its influential engagement in the work of the Environmental Media Committee and its adoption of its plans and strategies in this regard.” This came in a statement by Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, Vice President of the General Union of Arab Producers and head of its participating delegation, who indicated that “the Union’s diverse participation, with the presence of the General Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development of the Union, in the meetings held over two days in Kuwait, included items on the Palestinian issue, the media roadmap for sustainable development, and the unified Arab plan for addressing environmental issues in the media.” Dr. Al-Aqab added, The punishment: “With regard to the Palestinian issue, the Union proposed using the environmental file in the media, and using the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflicts - November 6, as it perfectly matches the Palestinian issue in its environmental dimensions and to demonstrate the serious damages it has suffered as a result of Zionist crimes, including soil pollution with projectiles and internationally criminalized white phosphorus, drinking water pollution, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure, sewage pollution, soil erosion and destruction of agricultural lands.” Regarding the item on the media roadmap for sustainable development, Al-Aqab, during her participation in the meetings, pointed out that “the link between the environment and the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals is clear, and that environmental media is a fundamental tool that can be employed in raising awareness of these goals.“ She explained that ”the General Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development of the General Union of Arab Producers submitted a proposal for a training manual to develop the capabilities of Arab media professionals in the field of environment and sustainable development.“ Concerning the item on the unified Arab plan for addressing environmental issues through media, she stated in her intervention: ”We are honored that the General Secretariat for Environment and Sustainable Development of the Union of Arab Producers is a member of the working group tasked with developing the plan, which encompasses numerous aspects. This comes in light of the widespread Arab praise during previous meetings held at the League of Arab States for the Kuwaiti experience in environmental awareness and media, which covers many items in the adopted plan.“ She also commended ”the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information for its pioneering role in forming the Environmental Media Committee, which helps to focus at the national level with the participation of a select group of specialists, while emphasizing the importance of encouraging visual and audio production in the field of the environment.
