Her Excellency Dr. Reem Al-Faleej, Minister of Development and Sustainability, received a delegation from the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, headed by its Chairperson, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, and including Society member and Vice President of the Environmental Engineers Team, Environmental Engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi. The meeting included extensive discussions on the importance of strengthening cooperation and integration between government agencies and civil society organizations to support environmental initiatives and solidify the concepts of environmental sustainability. In this context, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab stated, “The meeting addressed the crucial role of civil society organizations in raising environmental awareness among various segments of society. It also reviewed the Society’s most prominent activities and programs at both the local and international levels, reflecting its commitment to supporting environmental and developmental issues according to best practices.” She added, “We presented to Her Excellency the Minister the Society’s efforts, its active participation in regional and international forums, and its role in supporting environmental initiatives with a global dimension. We emphasized the importance of integrating efforts between government agencies and civil society organizations to achieve environmental sustainability.” Dr. Al-Aqab expressed her appreciation for the delegation’s efforts. Al-Aqab expressed her appreciation for the state’s move towards establishing a ministry specializing in environmental work, which contributes to unifying efforts and enhancing the efficiency of institutional performance, and which will oversee the relevant authorities, including the General Authority for the Environment, the General Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, and the General Authority for Food and Nutrition, in order to strengthen the environmental work system and achieve integration between the relevant sectors.
