Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, emphasized “the importance of strengthening cooperation among civil society organizations, given their supportive roles in various fields that impact daily life in the country. She also highlighted the need to solidify collaborative efforts among these organizations, despite their differing mandates, to present a comprehensive picture of community initiatives in Kuwait.” This came during her meeting with a delegation from the Kuwaiti Philatelic and Numismatic Society at the Society’s headquarters. The delegation included Dr. Adel Hussein Al-Abdulrazzaq, Chairman of the Board; Mr. Issa Yahya Abdulrasoul Dashti, Secretary; Mr. Abdul Latif Fouad Al-Omar, Treasurer; and Mr. Jaber Abdul-Aali Samir Al-Hindal, Board Member. In a press statement today, Dr. Al-Aqab stated, “The meeting explored avenues for joint cooperation between the two societies, aiming to document Kuwait’s environment and showcase its natural and heritage components through postage stamps, as well as to enhance cultural and awareness-raising efforts of mutual interest.” Al-Aqab stated that “the Society’s efforts in documenting the Kuwaiti environment are aligned with the principles of authenticity and heritage, as evidenced by its previous issuance of a series of postage stamps on this subject. Among the most notable are 32 stamps depicting various birds in the 1970s, 33 stamps featuring native plants in 1983, and a series of stamps commemorating World Environment Day.” She announced that the collaboration between the Kuwait Environmental Protection Society and the Kuwait Philatelic and Numismatic Society has resulted in an agreement to issue several environmental stamps aimed at documenting Kuwait’s environmental heritage. She noted that the Kuwait Philatelic and Numismatic Society provides services in this regard, emphasizing the technical specifications for stamp issuance, including the steps involved, the number of stamps, and their sizes, while the Kuwait Environmental Protection Society provides the content for the stamps. She added that future cooperation between the two societies will lead to the issuance of a new series of environmental stamps.
