«The Environmental Protection Agency and the Gulf Environmental Network launch the third Gulf Youth Environmental Forum in Abu Dhabi

The UAE Minister of Environment inspects 8 projects of the Friends of the Environment team

The Kuwait Environment Protection Society, in cooperation with the Gulf Network of NGOs for Environmental Protection, whose executive office is headed by the Society, launched the activities of the «Third Gulf Environmental Youth» during the period from January 13-18, in parallel with the convening of the International Renewable Energy Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The forum is part of the program to empower young people and friends of the environment from the members of environmental associations in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to encourage them to engage in the environmental field.

Friends of the environment
The association's Secretary General, Jenan Behzad, said that the association's Friends of the Environment delegation participating in the "Third Gulf Youth Environmental Forum" this year consists of 8 young people participating with eight scientific and applied projects, which they presented within the pavilion.

Behzad added that the "Friends of the Environment" projects pavilion attracted many visitors to the exhibition, including Arab and international leaders and scientific elites, who inspected the projects and listened to the young people explain how they work, their ideas, and their goals, which included

Reuse and recycling habits, the climate change awareness project, beach safaris, introducing the Kuwaiti wild environment and birds of the State of Kuwait, and the association’s media programs were highlighted in the exhibition through display screens.

UAE Minister of Environment
She confirmed that the UAE Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, visited the «Friends of the Environment» exhibition, reviewed their projects, and discussed them with the participants, expressing his admiration for the innovative nature of their projects, their high level of cultural and awareness-raising skills, and their passion for environmental issues and renewable energy. The head of the Environmental Protection Society delegation added that many scientific leaders and environmental experts visiting the energy exhibition also toured the projects of the «Friends of the Environment» youth, members of the Gulf Network of Environmental NGOs.

Lectures and workshops
She noted that the forum's activities include an intensive program of lectures, workshops, discussion sessions, and presentations at the international exhibition, as well as interaction with the public, field visits to the energy exhibition and Masdar City, recreational trips, and a schedule of meetings with prominent figures and specialists participating in the renewable energy exhibition, international and Arab environmental experts, and heads and representatives of Gulf environmental associations, in addition to granting participants the environmental certificate.

As a historical record of their environmental roles. Behzad announced that the environmental societies participating in the pavilion dedicated to the Gulf Network are the Kuwait Environment Protection Society – State of Kuwait, the Friends of the Environment Society – Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates, and the Friends of the Environment Society – Kingdom of Bahrain.

Forum objectives
Understanding the limits of the ambition of the next generation by reading their future vision for a better environment as they aspire it to be.

Encouraging youth to present environmental initiatives and proposals to leave their mark on the environmental roadmap of the GCC countries. Urging them to understand the shared environmental heritage and common environmental risks among the GCC countries. Promoting the value of cooperation among the people of the Arab Gulf states. Encouraging youth to pursue environmental specializations and introducing them to its various aspects. Encouraging them to engage in scientific research and pursue training in the environmental field. Expressing their future needs and guiding them towards the correct way to register their positions and demands that contribute to achieving a better future. Forum themes
It includes issues of technology and scientific research in service of the environment, the role of youth in protecting the environment, the role of civil society in supporting and assisting youth in protecting the environment, and educating youth about the serious effects and causes of climate change, in addition to discussing

The most important environmental problems that concern young people, and introducing them to environmental specializations and jobs needed in the environmental field.

Gulf Youth Environmental Forum
It is organized annually by the Gulf Network of Environmental NGOs, headed by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Exhibition. The network decided to hold the forum as part of its Youth Empowerment and Friends program.

The forum includes members of environmental associations in the GCC countries to encourage their involvement in the environmental field. The forum's activities are inspired by the vision and contributions of the first environmentalist in Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and commend the innovative concept of the program of events, which aligns with the vision of the original benefactor and first environmentalist in the UAE, Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him. .
