Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab stated that the General Assembly of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society approved the Board of Directors' administrative and financial reports for 2019, a meeting that had been postponed by the Ministry of Social Affairs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in compliance with the Cabinet's directives and decision regarding social distancing. The General Assembly also approved the auditing firm for 2020 during the meeting held Monday evening at the Society's temporary headquarters in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
Dr. Al-Aqab explained that the General Assembly meeting, which was held under precautionary conditions and in an atmosphere, was attended by members of the Board of Directors of the Association, a representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the supervisor of the Department of Civil Societies, Dhafer Al-Ajmi, a committee from the Department of Civil Societies at the Ministry, and a representative of Al-Bazei’ and Partners Office for auditing the accounts. During the General Assembly meeting, which was chaired by the President of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, she expressed thanks and appreciation to the members of the General Assembly for their confidence in the Board of Directors and their approval of the financial and administrative reports, to the Ministry of Social Affairs for their good cooperation, and to the members of the Board of Directors and the administrative staff for their good efforts.
She explained that the General Assembly meeting witnessed the presentation and discussion of the Board of Directors' forty-third annual report for the year 2019, the financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2019, the auditor's report, and the draft budget for the year 2020, which were approved by the members of the General Assembly, in addition to the selection of the auditor for the same year. She pointed out that the door was opened for suggestions, indicating that “facilitating their submission to the Assembly through social media and the official website of the Assembly, which receives opinions and suggestions and interacts with them with inquiries, is something that does not limit receiving suggestions during the meeting only, but rather at all times, which was appreciated by the members of the General Assembly.”.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab stated that the meeting concluded with a speech by the representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the supervisor of the Department of Civil Societies, Dhafer Al-Ajmi, who praised the efforts of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society and its distinction from many other societies, especially since it proved its existence despite the Corona pandemic through the multiplicity of activities via virtual visual communication.
