Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Gulf Network for Environmental NGOs, announced the network’s support for the outcomes of the Gulf Summit and the return of Gulf unity and the removal of the reasons that led to the dispute between the four countries for more than three years.
Dr. Al-Aqab pointed out that the network, with all members of its executive office, expressed their gratitude for the efforts of the Gulf leaders, praising the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, along with his brother, His Highness the Emir of the country, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and preserve him, and the good and blessed efforts they made that pushed towards completing the reconciliation, heralding the return of Gulf unity to its former state.
She pointed to the pioneering role of the late Emir, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him, whose main concern, despite the pain and suffering of his illness, was to achieve Gulf reconciliation and harmony, in order to preserve the gains throughout the life of the Council, which has extended for many decades and witnessed remarkable successes on all levels, which history records in letters of light.
Dr. Al-Aqab praised what the leaders agreed upon during their meeting at the Al-Ula Summit, which was named “The Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Summit,” may God rest their souls. She concluded by emphasizing the network’s continued programmatic approach in organizing many joint events, both collective and individual, in support of and to strengthen the joint Gulf environmental volunteer work. She called for the network to be adopted by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council under the umbrella of the Human and Environment Sector, in implementation of the leaders“ aspirations to enhance joint Gulf action in the field of environmental volunteer work.
