Engineer Abdul-Amir Al-Jazaf confirmed that “the Environmental Protection Association submitted a report to the Environmental Police to follow up on the state of visual pollution in the Sheraton roundabout and the nearby waterfront, after the association observed visitors dumping trash and waste in the area,” noting that “the association extends its thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Interior for responding to the report and penalizing the violators in accordance with Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014 and amending some of its provisions No. 99 of 2015.”.

He added that the association’s report of environmental violations received a quick response and an excellent result, stressing “the importance of the role of civil society institutions in carrying out their duties in submitting such reports in accordance with the Environmental Protection Law, which means that competent public benefit associations and citizens have the right to report the existence of environmental violations in accordance with Article No. (172), which states that “every citizen or association concerned with environmental protection may resort to the competent administrative and judicial authorities in order to implement the provisions of the Environmental Law and what is stated in the executive regulations of this law,” noting the importance of the great and continuous cooperation between the association and the Environmental Police through its participation in the program plans for courses, workshops and conferences of the Environmental Protection Association, as well as the continuous and annual participation in the series of documentary programs to document wildlife in the State of Kuwait, which the association has presented for eight consecutive years.

Engineer Al-Jazaf explained that “many visitors to those places responded to the awareness campaign of the Environmental Police and the waste was removed,” extending his thanks to the leaders of the Ministry of Interior for their quick response to the report of the association, headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs, Major General Faraj Al-Zoubi, and the Director of the Environmental Police, Brigadier General Hussein Al-Ajmi, in addition to the efforts of First Sergeant Thamer Eid Al-Subaie and Sergeant Fawaz Hajras Al-Rashidi, noting that “the Kuwaiti Association for the Protection of the Environment supports the members of the Environmental Police and works hard through its teams and committees in arranging the submission of reports through reconnaissance and monitoring trips on land, coasts and sea.”.
