Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, stressed the importance of the social responsibility undertaken by the Directorate in accordance with the social roles and responsibilities of the Ministry of Interior towards environmental work. This came during his reception of Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, to discuss the many environmental tasks and roles that the Directorate provides to the Society’s committees and teams.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab pointed out that her meeting with Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, yielded many serious results that undoubtedly enhance the tasks of the association’s volunteers related to the marine environment, whether in monitoring and tracking wildlife on the islands and their surroundings in territorial waters, especially in the areas of birds and marine organisms, or in the area of monitoring the environmental situation.
She explained that the meeting discussed the association members' trips to the islands, either to take samples or to monitor birds, as well as monitoring the environmental status of the elements and components of wildlife in some locations on the islands, within the framework of following the security system of the General Directorate of Coast Guard and with its approval. In addition, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah welcomed the association's presentation of a training program for the Directorate's personnel in preparation for their joining the wildlife monitoring program, which extends for more than 4 years in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, in preparation for the joining of Coast Guard personnel to the association's work team to participate in the wildlife monitoring program and transfer environmental capabilities to those personnel, in addition to the participation of some of the General Directorate of Coast Guard personnel in supporting and organizing the scientific trips that the association holds periodically to the islands.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab considered her meeting with Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, as confirmation of a joint environmental work strategy that enriches and logistically supports the marine environment programs undertaken by the Kuwait Environment Protection Society. She praised Sheikh Mubarak’s environmental vision and commended his keenness to enhance the Society’s work by granting approvals, facilitating tasks, and involving Coast Guard personnel in the activities and events organized by the Society in this regard.
