The General Assembly of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society held its regular meeting for the year 2021 to consider the items of the Board of Directors’ forty-fifth annual report for the year 2021, the financial statements for the year ending on December 31, 2021, as well as the auditor’s report, the draft budget for the year 2022, the selection of the auditor and the determination of his remuneration, and finally opening the door for proposals and opinions by the members of the General Assembly.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, Chairperson of the Board of Directors, said in a press statement: «The association held its regular annual meeting under her chairmanship, with the attendance of members of the Board of Directors, members of the General Assembly, representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs, and a representative of the auditing office.».
Dr. Al-Aqab explained that “the Kuwait Environment Protection Society held its regular general assembly meeting, but this year it is not ordinary at all, as it is a very distinguished general assembly due to the passing of 50 years since the establishment of this pioneering institution, and crowned its history with the golden jubilee.” She said: “The society witnessed the attendance of members of the general assembly who were keen, with the rights available to them, to activate their roles despite the high temperatures,” noting that “the meeting was characterized by transparency in presenting the items through the announced numerical vote on each of them, each separately.”.
She reported that “the meeting concluded with the approval of the items,” noting that “the voting process was smooth and seamless,” praising the keenness of the members of the General Assembly to be present, attend and discuss in a friendly atmosphere that reflects the distinguished national sense that drives towards strengthening social responsibility towards the environment and supporting the values of voluntary environmental work.
She praised “the leaders of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the officials of the Department of Civil Societies, who formed a specialized committee from its staff to supervise the proceedings and management of the General Assembly. Praise is extended to everyone who has mastered their work and exerted their effort to follow up on the interest of the association to preserve its contributions and achievements within the powers and regulations, taking into account their supervisory and administrative roles for the benefit of civil society institutions.” She also commended the keenness and interest of Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry and Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development, and the efforts of the Director of the Department of Civil Societies, Iman Al-Anzi, for closely following up on the affairs of the associations and working to overcome administrative difficulties, and the supervisor of the Department of Civil Societies, Aisha Al-Baijan, and the members of the committee assigned by the Ministry to supervise the proceedings of the General Assembly for their distinguished efforts in cooperating with the association to bring the General Assembly to this honorable appearance.
Dr. Al-Aqab concluded, “With wishes for the fifty years, hoping that the association will obtain a headquarters that befits its capabilities and its dedicated national staff, and that its future will be touched by the hand of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah – may God protect and preserve him – and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah – may God guide his steps – and that Their Highnesses will bless this occasion with firm support befitting the data and outputs of Kuwaiti civil society institutions that have proven their capabilities and are recognized regionally, Arab and internationally.”.
