Engineer Maali Al-Aqab, Public Relations Officer of the Kuwaiti Society for Environmental Protection, confirmed that the “Environmental Message from Society to Society,” which the Society prepared to understand people’s views on the environment in the country, attracted the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Eng. Mahmoud Boushehri, the Director General of the Agricultural Authority, Nasser Taqi, the Chairman of the Exhibition Organizing Committee, Nasser Al-Mardi, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, Lina Mariana, during the visit of the Minister and the dignitaries to the Society’s pavilion participating in the “Halali First Exhibition” currently being held at the Mishref Fairgrounds.
M. Al-Aqab stated that the Minister of Electricity expressed his admiration for the idea of the message and was keen to participate in one of them, recording his message to the Kuwaiti environment. She pointed out that the environmental message garnered a large percentage of participations, in addition to the digital cards “Bookmark” containing digital codes for the series of documentary programs on wildlife in Kuwait that the association produces annually. The cards were widely distributed at the exhibition, as an advanced media method to spread awareness and correct knowledge about the components and elements of the Kuwaiti environment, in addition to the digital cards for the campaign “Introducing the International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflicts, November 6.”.
She explained that the association participated in the exhibition with an awareness pavilion that included 3 different devices for hydroponic farming, with the support of “Mushrif Al-Mutairi, the alternative sources factory for plastics belonging to Al-Mizan Gulf Company.” Through the pavilion, the association’s “Youth of the Environment” and “Friends of the Environment” teams presented field workshops and simplified scientific explanations about the techniques and importance of hydroponic farming, as well as distributing the association’s scientific publications.
Ms. Maali Al-Aqab pointed out that “the community environmental participation plan of the Youth Environment Team and the Friends of the Environment Team is included in the association’s program of events for its golden jubilee and the 50th anniversary of its founding in 1974, and that the team’s activities aim to qualify its members for voluntary environmental work, as well as community field preparation as a preliminary stage to take over environmental responsibility in the future,” noting that “the activities include the organizational dimension to diversify skills and comprehensively gain experiences,“ adding that ”the field participation of the Youth Environment Team and the Friends of the Environment Team enhances the association’s position in society, in addition to spreading environmental awareness among young people about the importance of employing their talents and abilities towards protecting and sustaining the environment and encouraging them to participate in various community environmental activities.”.
