The association launches the "Let's Keep Jahra Green" campaign.“

As part of the community activities accompanying the opening ceremony of the Red Palace in Jahra, which was held under the patronage of the Minister of Information, Abdulrahman Baddah Al-Mutairi, and in the presence of the Governor of Jahra, Hamad Jassim Al-Habashi, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Muhammad Khalid Al-Jassar, and a host of public figures and representatives of government agencies and civil organizations, the Kuwait Environment Protection Society launched, for a period of 3 days, an event dedicated to the youth and students of Jahra Governorate under the slogan “Jahra, let’s keep it green.”.

Engineer Maali Al-Aqab, the association’s public relations officer and executive supervisor of the event, explained that the agricultural activity “Al-Jahra, let’s keep it green” was carried out by the Youth Environment Team and the Friends of the Environment Team of the association, who participated in spreading awareness during the event among visitors to the Red Palace. The initiator, Obaid Al-Azmi, presented agricultural activities to teach and inform visitors, including school students and children, about how to plant in the soil and transfer seedlings.

Ms. Al-Aqab added: “Different types of soilless farming technologies were presented to encourage home gardening even without suitable areas and surfaces for cultivation. This presentation was sponsored by Mr. Mushrif Al-Mutairi, Alternative Sources Plastic Factory, affiliated with Al-Mizan Gulf Company, by providing different technologies that rely on preventing water waste and providing its use through recycling within the systems, which saves large quantities of water, up to 90% compared to normal conditions.“.

She stated that the community awareness activity “Al-Jahra, Keep It Green,” in addition to including awareness activities about the terrestrial environment, coincides with the association’s participation with international bodies and organizations in World Soil Day, which falls on December 5th. It also “is consistent with World Soil Day in efforts to raise awareness of the importance of preserving healthy ecosystems for human life in the face of increasing challenges facing the soil, in addition to raising awareness about soils and encouraging communities to improve their health, as soil degradation leads to the depletion of nutrients from it and thus the loss of its ability to support agricultural products, while other types contain such a high concentration of nutrients that represent a toxic environment for plants and animals, pollute the environment and contribute to climate change.”.
