The Bird Monitoring and Protection Team of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society affirmed that its field and environmental activities organized for enthusiasts and the general public are consistent with its diverse program plan aimed at spreading awareness and correct culture towards the preservation and protection of migratory and resident birds in the State of Kuwait. This came in the words of Mohammed Shah, head of the team, during his announcement of organizing an open day that includes a “Birds Awareness Workshop in the Jahra Reserve” with the participation of 20 enthusiasts and bird lovers from the general public.
Mohammed Shah explained that “the workshop is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for 4 hours, starting at 9 am and ending at 1 pm, with the aim of introducing participants to the importance of the Jahra Reserve for migratory and resident birds and for wildlife in general, as well as introducing the role of the Environment Public Authority in managing and protecting the Jahra Reserve.”.
He pointed out that the twenty participants will learn during the open day activities about the diversity of environments found in the Jahra Reserve, in addition to learning about the types of birds that have been observed in the Jahra Reserve and their numbers, announcing that “the workshop program begins at 9 am with the reception of participants at the gate of the reserve, while at 9:30 am a lecture and a film screening will be held, followed at 10:30 am by a tour around the reserve, and at 11:30 am there will be a break and a hospitality session at the marine observation tower,” noting that “all services provided to the twenty participants in the workshop include transportation, a lecture, a screening of a short film produced by the bird monitoring and protection team, and the provision of binoculars for viewing birds from a distance.”.
Mohammed Shah noted that “the bird monitoring and protection team of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society is keen to provide public activities for all groups and ages in an effort to expand the base of bird monitors, observers, and photographers of birds and wildlife in Kuwait, in conjunction with its annual program that includes organizing workshops and scientific lectures, in addition to field work in all reserves, sites, and environmental and natural habitats that witness a high number of migratory and resident birds in Kuwait.”.
