The association participates in a session on “Enhancing the resilience of local communities and localizing adaptation strategies.”

The Kuwait Environment Protection Society participated in a dialogue session entitled “Enhancing the Resilience of Local Communities and Localizing Adaptation Strategies” organized by the “Arab Network for Environment and Development” in the Civil Society Organizations Pavilion run by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the Arab Republic of Egypt at the Climate Summit.

Environmental engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi, the official spokesperson for the environmental engineers team at the Kuwait Environment Protection Society and a member of the Society's delegation at the Climate Summit, affirmed that “his intervention addressed the success story of civil society organizations supporting governmental academic efforts. The State of Kuwait was keen to develop curricula to include climate science and global warming. However, the educational plan faced new challenges in the need to develop teachers' skills in this new field and build national capacities to teach this new content. He added that the role of civil society shone through in providing special training courses for science teachers and supervisors in all educational districts, and providing them with the climate change curriculum prepared by the Society as part of the publications supporting the educational process, which facilitated the transfer of information to learners.”.

M. Al-Ramzi pointed to the initiative of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society to establish the “Environmental Engineers Team,“ which is concerned with bringing together graduates of environmental engineering in a specialized entity and framework to introduce their capabilities, and highlight their graduation projects, which are in themselves innovative projects, as well as presenting them to Kuwaiti society as a fruit of the environmental journey in the State of Kuwait, which preceded many countries of the world in directing its sons to this scientific specialization. He pointed out that the ”environmental engineer” specializes in studying the impact of technology and its development and assessing the extent of its danger to the environment on the one hand and its ability to improve the environment on the other hand, noting that he works according to the principles of chemistry, biology and ecology to protect natural resources.

Mr. Al-Ramzi also noted that in his intervention he reviewed some of the success stories of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, pointing to its outstanding success in the “Green Schools Program” which promotes environmental awareness according to the axes and frameworks of voluntary environmental work that support the relevant school curricula, as well as addressing the Society’s success stories in presenting its specialized curriculum on climate change, in addition to reviewing many of the Society’s successes in the field of training programs and workshops related to climate change.
