Within the framework of social responsibility and enhancing the roles and tasks of Kuwaiti civil society organizations on a regional and international scale, the President of the Jordanian Ambulance Association, Dr. Yanal Al-Ajlouni, received in his office in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, President of the Kuwait Environment Protection Society and Regional Advisor to the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations (GNDR), and the official spokesperson and Vice President of the Environmental Engineers Team of the Society, Engineer Yousef Al-Ramzi.
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab noted that “the meeting addressed several issues of common interest related to crisis management and disaster risk reduction, especially those related to managing human disasters resulting from wars and military conflicts.” She praised the warm welcome and keen interest shown by the President of the Jordanian Ambulance Association, Dr. Yanal Al-Ajlouni, regarding the mutual desire to participate with the Environment Society, given its membership in the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Risk Reduction and its status as a Kuwaiti organization with a diverse international scope and areas of contribution.
She stated that “the Environment Protection Association has had a seat in the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Programme since 2023 and regularly participates in the Programme’s activities, as well as the programs and activities of the Crisis and Disaster Risk Reduction Management of the League of Arab States,” adding that “the Environment Protection Association has vital coordination mechanisms for disaster risk reduction, providing platforms for all stakeholders to review progress made and agree on the necessary steps in this regard.”.
For his part, Dr. Yanal Al-Ajlouni expressed his thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait, its Emir and people for adopting Arab causes and to the Kuwait Environment Protection Society for its continuous efforts in providing humanitarian aid, stressing the importance of unifying regional and Arab efforts in facing the ongoing and endless humanitarian challenges.
Dr. Al-Ajlouni stated that “the visit is part of the joint efforts aimed at strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Arab organizations concerned with disasters and reducing them, overcoming obstacles seeking to overcome their effects, in addition to developing regional human capacities and addressing increasing humanitarian challenges, mitigating the consequences of disasters, and supporting and preparing communities to reduce the fragility of responding to local and regional crises, especially in disaster-stricken areas.”.
He stressed the importance of forming joint working groups to exchange visits and transfer experiences between humanitarian teams in Kuwait and Jordan, in addition to the fact that the association represents the local Kuwaiti partner that can coordinate with stakeholders to increase the volume of cooperation through the available capabilities and find ways to enhance cooperation to implement mutual projects.”.
